AHHHHH!!

OK so i was up till about 5am this morning writing this out, and they are reading it NOW… i’m so scared.

Dear Actors,

Please forgive me for not being here to give this proposal personally; I hope Bryn does a good job of getting my point across.

I would like to put forward two proposals, but don’t worry ill be brief:

The first proposal is “Ghetto” by “Joshua Sobol” a tragic comedy based on the Vilna ghetto in Lithuania, where a number of actors formed a theatre company in the midst of the fighting. Ghetto weaves the absurdly humorous dialogue with the ruthless cruelty of the circumstances, to create an entire tapestry of human emotions. And the result is stunning, although the piece is set in 1942, there are echoes of modern society and the play can be adapted to the current situation in the west bank.

And the Second, I would like to propose myself as director of one of your shows next year. I would like to think that I have shown you all that I am competent, determined and completely and utterly devoted, not only to my work, but to all the people that it encompasses, be they on or off stage. I cannot teach you to act, I’m not an actor and those of you who have seen me try know better than anyone, if in your final production you want to be taught to act, by all means reject me. I cannot promise anymore than anyone else at LIPA I cannot promise you a glorious show that leads onto fame and fortune, I can promise you the experience of working with a new and young director, and I can promise you time, time beyond the restraints of anyone else. It would be a great honour to work with you again, the decision is yours.

Thank you,

Eyal Israel
